Genetic Counseling

Assessment of genetic risks before or during pregnancy.

Genetic Counseling: Overview

When there is a family history of inherited disease, a chromosomal or structural condition in a previous pregnancy, advanced maternal age, or an increased risk on screening tests, diagnostic options and the scope and limitations of available tests are discussed clearly.

How is the assessment planned?

Each procedure and follow-up plan is individualized by considering gestational age, the mother’s medical history, previous pregnancies, current ultrasound findings and any available screening results together.

This page is for general information only. Whether a procedure is indicated and its appropriate timing are determined through individual medical assessment.
